Intellectual Property Management

Oneness’ core business is in the research and development of new drugs, in particular on the research and development of global innovative drugs. The Company relies on R&D and innovation results to generate value. Therefore, it needs comprehensive intellectual property protection to maintain product value and protect future profits. The Company’s research and development results are mainly protected by patents and trade secrets.
 Patent Management
The patents derived from product and technology development by R&D units or the introduction of external products and technologies will be managed in accordance with the patent management guidelines in the R&D cycle of the internal control system. The Company attaches great importance to intellectual property protection, patent evaluation, patent layout, patent application and defense, and the execution thereof is entrusted to domestic and foreign patent firms.An overview of patent management is as follows:
  1. If the R&D patent has development value, submit a patent application, and according to the patent application examination form, after the examination is passed, the patent firm is entrusted to file the application.
  2. Appoint a patent firm to evaluate the patentability, suggest the country of application based on the patent map, and provide a non-infringement evaluation report if necessary.
  3. After the patent is granted, the inventor will be rewarded in accordance with the Patent Incentive Measures.
 Trade Secret Management
Intellectual property rights that are not suitable for public disclosure, such as unique production technologies, must be protected as trade secrets. In accordance with the employee work regulations, employment contract, and non-disclosure agreement, employees are obliged to maintain confidentiality in order to protect trade secrets.
An overview of business protection is as follows:
  1. Employees are obligated to keep professional and company business secrets.
  2. Employees shall not disclose any business secrets upon commencing or leaving employment with the Company. In addition to the right to dismiss, the Company has retroactive legal rights to claim compensation for company losses.
  3. Employees of the Company shall not disclose or use the business secrets of their previous employer.
 Execution Status

The above-mentioned intellectual property management plan is linked to the operational goals, and is carried out by the heads of the R&D units and staff. The intellectual property related matters are regularly reported to the board of directors in the fourth quarter of each year. The most recent report date is November 13, 2020. The Company’s patents and technical records have been saved and managed by the electronic document management system, and are regularly inventoried and reviewed, and the progress of patent applications are closely tracked and reviewed with patent firms. The Company organizes education and training related to intellectual property as needed to strengthen employee awareness. With the introduction of the intellectual property management system in 2020, a systematic intellectual property management mechanism will be established.

 Intellectual Property and List of Achievements
  1. Patent: As of September 30, 2020, the number of patent applications calculated by country is 178, including 104 granted patents and 74 patents under review (Note).
    Note: Patent applications in some EU countries can be shared with other countries, and no independent certificate is provided. If calculated by the number of patent certificates, the total number of applications is 139, of which 96 are granted patents and 43 are under review.
  2. Achieve certification: The Company expects to pass the certification of its Taiwan Intellectual Property Management System (TIPS) in 2021.
